Chapter 10

The following day, Gabe did the morning chores while Leslie cooked breakfast. Her mother had advised her to stick to simple meals. Once she had mastered those, she could move to more challenging recipes with confidence.

She peeled, chopped and fried potatoes, adding in chopped bacon and onion. While those cooked, she made a batch of pancakes, using her mother’s recipe. She had a little trouble flipping them neatly, but although they weren’t the prettiest pancakes, they were golden and fluffy. She fried several eggs, turning them carefully. She was pleased that she only broke two yolks, and she put those eggs on her own plate, leaving the perfect eggs for Gabe. By the time he returned, she was just putting breakfast on the table.

Gabe smiled at the sight of her dressed only in a green cotton robe. He embraced her from behind and nuzzled the area beneath her ear with a happy sigh. “Mmm, smells delicious,” he growled.

“It’s just a simple breakfast,” Leslie said, but she leaned back against him with a proud smile.

“I wasn’t talking about the food,” he teased, giving her bottom a fond squeeze.

Leslie giggled, flashing a flirty glance at him over her shoulder. “Sit down, Gabe Faulkner. You must be starved after your shenanigans last night.”

“And this morning,” he reminded her with a naughty grin.

He took another few moments to fondle her breasts and kiss the curve of her neck before taking a seat at the table. She had a pleasant flush on her cheeks when they commenced the meal. Gabe was hungry, and he gobbled down the food eagerly.

Leslie ate more slowly. She made a face as she chewed. She had wanted breakfast to be perfect, but the potatoes with bacon and onion were overcooked.

“I’m sorry the potatoes are burned. I got distracted making the pancakes. Next time, I won’t cook them for so long,” Leslie murmured, blinking back tears.

Gabe squeezed her hand and reached over to give her a quick kiss. “They weren’t burned; they were perfect.”

“No, they were burned, I tell you.” She sighed miserably. “I’m never going to be a good cook.”

“The potatoes were delicious. Didn’t you see how fast I ate them?”

“Probably so you could get it over with. They weren’t delicious. They were burned. I can’t do anything right,” she insisted with a petulant frown.

Gabe pulled her to her feet and slid his chair back. Before she had a clue what he was going to do, he flipped her face down over his lap and pulled her robe up over her back. A cool draft of air wafted over her naked bottom a second before his palm connected with a firm smack.

“Ouch,” she cried, trying to squirm free. “What are you doing? Gabe, stop!”

Gabe held her easily as he began spanking her. “I’ll stop when I’m good and ready, kitten.” He paddled her to a steady rhythm, covering her bottom with stinging slaps until it was fiery red. “Breakfast wasn’t burned, but your bottom is going to be by the time I’m done.
